HOW DOES A CHILD APPLY FOR A WIG?
Applications are available on our website. We need a completed application, Physicians note or a verifiable diagnosis, non disclosure agreement, media release form along with 3 photos of the child.
How will i know my child has been approved for a Free Wigs 4 Kids hair piece?
After submitting your child's 3 photos, physicians documentation, media release form and non disclosure. we will contact you via email or phone regarding a decision.
CAN I MEET THE CHILD WHO RECEIVES MY HAIR?
We cannot link donors with recipients. Because all applicants are minors, we must protect every child’s privacy. You are more than welcomed to spot your donated hair, from the updated pictures of the children via our Instagram or Facebook .

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE MEDICAL CONDITIONS OF THE CHILDREN YOU HELP?
Most of our recipients suffer from the autoimmune disease, alopecia areata. Others have experienced hair loss from radiation therapy and chemotherapy, severe burns or trauma, and various other genetic and dermatological conditions.
What is Alopecia?
• Alopecia Areata Sisaipho-loss of all scalp hair except along the scalp margins
• Alopecia Totalis – loss of all scalp hair, frequently including eyelashes and eyebrows.
• Alopecia Universalis – loss of all scalp and body hair
Cancer constitutes the second highest percentage of our recipients. Every year approximately 2,200 children under age 20 are diagnosed with brain tumors. Radiation treatment for cancer can cause permanent hair loss. Chemotherapy may also cause hair loss to be long-term depending on the length of treatment needed.
• Loose Anagen Syndrome – An abnormality where hair is thin and breaks at very short lengths
• Trichotillomania – an obsessive compulsive disorder of repetitive hair pulling
• Telogen Effluvium – Diffuse but excessive shedding of hair
• Trauma such as burns, accidents, dog attacks, etc.
ARE YOUR RECIPIENTS CHARGED ANY MONEY FOR THEIR WIG?
NO! Our recipients receive their custom Wig, FREE OF CHARGE.
WHERE DO I GO TO GET MY HAIR CUT?
You can go anywhere to get your hair cut as long as the donation guidelines listed on our website are followed. Anyone can cut your hair! We encourage our donors to go to a salon they are already familiar with so they will be comfortable when making their donation.
How long does it take for my child to receive their free wig?
between 1-4 weeks
What type of hair do we use for our Kid Wigs?
Free Wigs 4 Kids Inc. only uses raw human hair for all children wigs.
What is the shipping time frame once we receive our acceptance letter?
Shipping Varies by Country. USA shipping is around 1-3 days. International shipping can vary from 1-30 days.
Am I able to write letters to Free Wigs 4 Kids Inc recipients?
You absolutely may write letters to our recipients! You may send them to our office and we will pass them along. However, we cannot disclose personal information about our recipients, such as their mailing addresses, and we cannot guarantee that one of our recipients will write back to you.
Who are your manufacturers? Are they located in the United States or overseas?
Our Founder Quilla Bohannon Is our manufacturer. Quilla Specializes in hair loss hair pieces that are made by hand. All hair pieces are made in the USA.
Could someone from your organization attend our event?

Does Free Wigs 4 Kids Inc throw away hair?
If Free Wigs 4 Kids Inc receives hair that is not completely dry before sending it must be thrown away because it molds.
How do I donate my hair?
It is important that specific guidelines are followed when making a hair donation in order to ensure Free Wigs 4 Kids Inc can accept and use your hair. Hair should be a minimum of 12 inches, clean and dry.
Do you accept dreadlocks?
No, dreadlocks cannot be hand-sewn into our custom-made hairpieces.
Where can I get my hair cut for Free Wigs for Kids?
We do not require certified specialists to cut ponytails for donating hair to Free Wigs 4 Kids; you may go to any salon you choose or you may cut the hair yourself.
I have a ponytail that was cut a few years ago. Will you still accept it?
We will accept ponytails that are no more than one-year-old that are still tightly bound and secured.
Can I offer a hair donation to a specific recipient?
Unfortunately we cannot do this. However, we do receive many heartwarming letters telling us that donors are donating hair In Honor of a friend or a family member.
May I see pictures or hear from the child who receives my hair?
We’re sorry, but we are unable to do this due to privacy concerns for our recipients. However, you can find stories of children we have helped on our instagram and twitter page.
